Purple amethyst “flower” cluster of short, intergrown prismatic crystals. The upper terminations consist of transparent amethyst, while the lower sections of the crystals are composed of translucent milky quartz, very commonly seen in most southeastern Piedmont amethysts. Some crystals doubly-terminated. A summary of this occurrence can be found in the Mineralogical Record, Volume 36, Number 6 (November – December, 2005), pages 479 – 486.
